Indian Railways aims to start plying of around 400 Vande Bharat trains with sleeper facilities in the next four years. For this the production of more trains is targeted.
The Railways has decided to order 240 Vande Bharat trains with sleeper coaches for which a tender worth Rs 30,000 crore will be invited by the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) soon.
Sleeper Vande Bharat trains are expected to run on capital and long distance routes. The Vande Bharat design of the sleeper version is in the final stage at ICF.
Currently, the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai has received an order to manufacture 86 Vande Bharat trains. In this 75 Vande Bharat trains will have executive class and chair car facility, while the remaining trains will have sleeper class facility.
Tender for 240 Vande Bharat trains will be called after finalization of documents. These 240 Vande Bharat trains will run at a speed of 160 kmph. In the sleeper segment, Railways intends to manufacture 200 Vande Bharat trains. But an order for 100 Vande Bharat trains with an aluminum body is now being finalised.
Vandebharat who has changed color
Vande Bharat trains which were initially blue in color will now come in different colours. Vande Bharat Express trains were built in gray and saffron colours. More Vande Bharat Express trains will start service next month.
Vande Metro, MEMU trains are also included
Not only Vande Bharat sleeper trains, Vande Metro and Memu are also planned to build Vande Bharat traffic. MEMU-type Vande Bharat Express trains will ply from cities near the capital at a distance of less than 100 km.
Apart from this, it is also planned to build Vande Bharat Express trains of normal type. The Railway Department is planning to start the service of trains with low ticket fares.
