The United Loretto Friends (ULF) in Dubai celebrated its Annual Day concurrently with the traditional Monthi Fest on September 13, bringing together members, families, and well-wishers at the Grand Excelsior Hotel Hall in Bur Dubai. This significant event, which began at 11:30 a.m. and was skillfully compered by Mr. Floyd Moras, reinforced a strong sense of faith, culture, and community spirit among coastal Karnataka expatriates.
The celebrations commenced devotionally, honouring Mother Mary with Marian hymns presented by the Marian Choir. Mr. Uttam Menezes led the singing, accompanied by Mr. Archilles Fernandes on the keyboard, their melodious Konkani songs enriching the entire programme. A key part of the Monthi Fest was the traditional floral procession, where children and members reverently offered flowers to Mother Mary around the stage. Joint Secretary Mrs. Gleveena Aranha led a solemn prayer ceremony, which concluded with the symbolic sharing of 'Novem' with milk, embodying the harvest festival's deep traditions.
The formal Annual Day stage programme featured distinguished guests. Rev. Fr. Lancy Noel Rebello, Guest Priest of St. Francis of Assisi Church, Jebel Ali, and a native of Omzoor, served as Chief Guest. He was joined by Mr. Anil Pinto, Chief Coordinator of the St. Michael Mangalorean Konkani Community, Sharjah, and Mr. Adith Lobo, Chief Coordinator of the Jebel Ali Konkani Community. ULF President Mr. Donald Noronha delivered the welcome address and guests were felicitated. Secretary Mrs. Jevita Rodrigues then presented the ULF Annual Report for 2025–26, detailing the organisation's activities. Chief Guest Rev. Fr. Lancy Noel Rebello addressed the gathering, offering insights on unity, service, and togetherness.
Embodying its motto of "Unity and Service," ULF honoured Mr. Ignatius Denis Dantis for his selfless dedication to the community and the Church. Known for his kindness and unwavering willingness to serve, Mr. Dantis received a Maanpatr (citation), shawl, peta, flowers, and a fruit basket, presented by the distinguished guests and ULF President in the presence of his family.
