Udupi: Thangadagadi Nittur Aided Senior Primary School officially launched its 125th-year celebrations last Friday, marking the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti with a dedicated 'karaseva' (voluntary service) drive. The day began with prayer rituals led by K. Naveen Aithal, priest of Sri Venkataramana Temple, before community members actively participated in systematically removing old roof tiles from the school building.
Sadananda Nayak, General Secretary of the building construction committee, revealed ambitious plans for the school's future during this milestone year. He highlighted the unified resolve of alumni, the School Development Management Committee (SDMC), and various fan groups to ensure a grand celebration. A key initiative involves the renovation of the school's dilapidated building. Further enhancements include constructing modern model toilets, appointing honorary teachers to elevate educational standards with a dedicated fund for their salaries, and establishing a separate English medium school behind the existing structure.
School Headmaster Santosh Cornelio reflected on the institution's rich history, noting its establishment by local elders in 1901. As the school enters its 125th year, Cornelio paid tribute to all past contributors who have supported its development. He particularly emphasized the special and enduring role of the alumni association, which itself has completed an impressive 60 years, in shaping the school's journey and its ongoing progress.
