Udupi-Chikmagalur MP Kota Srinivas Poojary announced that petrol stations, e-charging centers, and Bharat Cafe will be opened soon in 9 gram panchayats of Udupi district, following the model of Telangana state. This was revealed during a meeting with Bharat Petroleum officials, district panchayat chief executive officers, and various gram panchayat officials and tahsildars at the Dr. V.S. Acharya auditorium in Manipal.
Petrol stations, e-charging centers, CNG, and Bharat Cafe will be set up in panchayat buildings along the national and state highways in the selected gram panchayats. The central government aims to implement this project within the next few months, by the beginning of next year. In the first phase, locations have been identified in Hebre, Belvai, Alabe, Karkala, Mudaradi, Belmannu, Sanur, Kukkandur, and Bailur gram panchayats.
MP Kota stated that the Bharat Petroleum organization will provide rent and commission to the gram panchayats for the locations, which will increase the economic and administrative power of the panchayats. The petrol pumps run by the gram panchayats will also have e-charging and CNG distribution facilities, as well as the sale of diesel and other petroleum products.
The meeting was attended by Regional Manager of Bharat Petroleum Vipin Das Vanashwal, Udupi ZP CEO Prathik Boyal, Udupi ZP Assistant Secretary James Dsilva, and other officials. MP Kota handed over the list of identified locations to Bharat Petroleum officials and advised them to implement the project soon.
