Manipal: DC Office Road Renamed After Dr V S Acharya

UDUPI: The improved DC Office Road in Udupi was inaugurated by Karnataka Industries Minister Jagadish Shettar. On the occasion of his birth anniversary, the road was named after former minister Dr V S Acharya. V S Acharya, Shettar added, was remembered by senior BJP leader L K Advani for his political resolve and efforts that propelled him from being an elected member of a local body to being a minister.

“Even chief ministers sought his opinion to solve major political crises when he was the home minister and the minister for medical education,” Shettar said. The minister said the DC Office Complex at Manipal was materialised only because of the efforts made by the late leader.

Shettar said Acharya was an outstanding leader who dedicated his life to strengthen the party right from the grassroots level. “He was a towering personality and was actively engaged in all spheres of politics. With a strong RSS background, Acharya put a lot of efforts to build BJP in the district and state,” Shettar said.
