On August 14, Dinakar Hairur, Chairman of the Urban Development Authority, launched the three-day Thaasante-2026 program at the Pushpa Haraju Kendra in Dodnagudde Shivalli, Udupi. The event, organized by the Horticulture Department, aims to promote horticulture among farmers and the general public from August 14 to 16. Hairur emphasized the benefits of planting horticulture species during the rainy season, citing the favorable weather conditions for growth. He also encouraged the use of organic manure instead of chemical fertilizers to ensure good crop quality. Kshama Patila, Joint Director of the Horticulture Department, highlighted the availability of plants and equipment for urban residents to create hand gardens. The fair features a wide range of products, including seedlings, fertilizers, and horticulture equipment. Various shops are offering products like chia seeds, ragi edible, millets powders, and fruit and vegetable plants. Senior officials from the Horticulture Department, such as Hemant Kumar L and Sunil Kumar YH, were present at the inauguration.
