On August 31, 2026, the Department of Agriculture in Udupi will close its application window for the Shrestha Agrishik Award, a program recognizing outstanding farmers at the district and taluk levels. This initiative is part of the department’s self-planning efforts, which also include schemes like the Krishi Award and Krishi Pandit Award. A total of 10 district-level awards, each worth Rs. 25,000, and 5 taluk-level awards, each worth Rs. 10,000, will be distributed as decided by the district-level selection committee.
To be eligible, farmers and farmer women must meet certain conditions, including not having received parallel awards from central and state government schemes. They must also adopt an integrated farming system, own at least 1 acre of land, and undertake various farming activities. The decision of the District Level Selection Committee will be final in the selection process. Farmers who have adopted organic farming must attach a valid personal organic certification certificate along with their application.
Application forms can be obtained from local Farmer Contact Centers or the Assistant Director of Agriculture office. Completed forms must be submitted to the Taluk Assistant Director of Agriculture office by the deadline. The Joint Director of Agriculture encourages farmers to contact their nearest Farmer Contact Center or Assistant Director of Agriculture office for more information. Late applications will not be accepted, and the applications received will be scrutinized by the Field Screening Team.
