On June 29, Udupi hosted the Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Jayanti program, which was jointly organized by the District Administration, District Panchayat, and Department of Kannada and Culture. MLA Yashpal A Suvarna inaugurated the event at the Government Pre-Graduation College Hall for Girls, where he emphasized that Kempegowda-built Bangalore has become a global leader in various fields due to its innovative projects. Suvarna highlighted the city’s rapid growth and its ability to attract international attention.

Coastal Development Board Chairman MA Ghafoor also spoke at the event, acknowledging Kempegowda’s significant contribution to Bengaluru’s development by providing basic facilities. Ghafoor praised Kempegowda’s ideals, which promoted equality among all religions and castes, serving as a model for future generations. Retired lecturer Dayananda D Kidiyuru delivered a lecture on Kempegowda, focusing on his progressive thinking and efforts to build towns that fostered economic growth based on the skills and professions of different communities.

Kidiyuru also highlighted Kempegowda’s environmental concerns, noting that he constructed numerous lakes for agricultural and drinking water purposes using scientific methods. The event was attended by various dignitaries, including Field Education Officer Dr. Ellamma, Udupi District Okkaliga Seva Sangh Secretary Hemananda Haldadka, and office bearers of the Udupi District Okkaliga Seva Sangh. The program was welcomed by District Kannada and Culture Department Assistant Director Purnima, narrated by Varsha B. Kotyan, and concluded with a vote of thanks by Indira B, Head Teacher of Government Girls’ High School.
