The Udupi District court found Bhaskar Shetty’s wife Rajeshwari Shetty, son Navneet Shetty, and Nandalike-based astrologer Niranjan Bhat guilty of murdering the Bhaskar Shetty (52), an NRI entrepreneur from Indrali .

Rajeshwari Shetty, the primary accused, is currently on bail. Navvneet Shetty and Niranjan Bhat are both in prison in Bengaluru. Srinivas Bhat, Niranjan’s father who was accused of deleting evidence, died of illness while the case was being heard. Raghavendra was released on bail.Another accused Raghavendra Bhat, who was also accused of deleting evidence, was found not guilty by the court. Shantaram Shetty, a special public prosecutor, had pleaded the case for the prosecution on behalf of the government about 161 witnesses were present in court during the trial.
“The entire claim made by the prosecution against the accused is baseless because there is no evidence or eye witness,” Pradeep Kumar, an attorney for the accused, told the reporters.
