Railway officials announced on September 4, 2026 that a series of passenger and express services operating in the Palakkad division will face cancellations, short‑terminations, origin shifts, timing changes and on‑track regulations throughout September and October as track maintenance proceeds.

Full cancellations affect two Shoranur‑Coimbatore passenger trains: Train 56604 Shoranur Junction–Coimbatore Junction Passenger will not run on September 20 and 29, while Train 56603 Coimbatore Junction–Shoranur Junction Passenger will be cancelled on September 20.

Partial cancellations include Train 16843 Tiruchchirappalli Junction–Palakkad Town Express, which will terminate at Podanur Junction on September 9, 14 and 16, leaving the Podanur‑Palakkad segment suspended. Train 56603 Coimbatore Junction–Shoranur Junction Passenger will be short‑terminated at Lakkiti on September 25 and October 3, and Train 16324 Mangaluru Central–Coimbatore Junction Express will end at Shoranur Junction on the same two dates, with the onward leg cancelled.

Origin changes are scheduled for two services. Train 16844 Palakkad Town–Tiruchchirappalli Junction Express will start from Podanur Junction instead of Palakkad Town on September 10, 15 and 17, departing at 7.55 am as per the original timetable; the Palakkad‑Podanur stretch will be cancelled. Train 56607 Palakkad Junction–Nilambur Road Passenger will originate from Shoranur Junction on September 20 and 29, leaving Palakkad Junction at 7.05 am, and the Palakkad‑Shoranur leg will not operate.

Rescheduling impacts Train 56604 Shoranur Junction–Coimbatore Junction Passenger, whose 8.20 am departure on September 22 and October 1 will be shifted to 8.50 am, creating a 30‑minute delay.

Regulated runs include the 22638 Mangaluru Central–Dr MGR Chennai Central West Coast Express, delayed by 45 minutes on September 6, 8, 10 and 13; the 12618 Hazrat Nizamuddin Junction–Ernakulam Junction Mangala Lakshadweep Superfast Express, also delayed 45 minutes on September 5 and 12; the 16307 Alappuzha–Kannur Express, delayed 30 minutes on October 3; and the 66610 Ernakulam Junction–Palakkad Junction MEMU, delayed 35 minutes on September 25 and October 3.

Southern Railway, overseeing the Thiruvananthapuram division, issued a partial cancellation for Train 16306 Kannur–Ernakulam Junction Express, which will terminate at Thrissur on September 25, 27 and 29 and on October 2, 4, 6, 9, 11 and 13. Additional services in that division will be regulated en route, though exact timings were not disclosed.

Travelers are urged to verify the latest timetables before departure and adjust itineraries accordingly.
