Apoorva, daughter of Sathish and Pavithra, had visited the school to pick up her sister when the old compound wall and gate collapsed, causing severe head injuries that ultimately led to her death. The incident occurred amid rainfall in the area, with Apoorva standing near the school gate, waiting for her sister to come out. The family has alleged negligence on the part of the school management and officials responsible for maintaining the premises, stating that the rusted and poorly maintained school gate and compound wall posed a danger to students and visitors. The Valmiki Ashrama School, run under the Integrated Tribal Development Project of the Karnataka Tribal Welfare Department, accommodates around 200 students. The incident has raised concerns over the safety and maintenance of government-run tribal welfare schools in the district, with parents expressing fear that old structures on school premises could threaten the lives of students. The family has demanded a thorough inspection of the school premises and immediate action to remove or repair unsafe structures. The police have taken up further investigation of the case, and authorities are expected to examine the circumstances leading to the collapse and take appropriate action.
