BANGALORE: The June 05 (UNI) school textbook revision clash continues between BJP and Congress leaders. Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai has said that it is a matter of fact. However, Minister of Education BC Nagesh said in a statement that the text has been revised to compromise Hindu sentiment.

Siddaramaiah, the leader of the Opposition, tweeted to Minister Nagesh on this statement. “Education Minister BC Nagesh has revealed the legitimate reason why the Hindu sentiment has been revised. Who are these Hindus? The Honorable Minister should disclose, to the extent of whose feelings are affected.

“In the revised text, many great personalities, including Basavanna, Ambedkar, Savitribai Pule, Narayanaguru, Kuvempu were ignored.

Wasn’t the representation of dalit and backward cast scholars in the text revision committee? Do these communities not join the definition of Hindus that the Minister of Education is concerned? Was he not represented for this reason B Nagesh?

Did Basavanna and Baba Saheb Ambedkar ignore Hinduism because they renounced Hinduism? Shame on you? Did Narayana Guru, Periyar and Kuvempu neglect to highlight the errors of Hinduism? BC Nagesh?

The majority of the poor in this country are the Dalits and backward castes of Hinduism. The number of these children in government schools is high. If the feelings of these children are affected by the insults to Buddha, Basava, Ambedkar, Savitribai Pule, Narayana Guru, Kuvempu?

The distorted mind-boggling president’s revised text not only affects the minds of the vast majority of Hindus but also the minds of six and a half crore Kannadigas in the state. Siddaramaiah tweeted, “Don’t go to check the tolerance of Kannadigas. Throw this revised text first into the trash.”
