The RT-PCR test is not required at Karnataka airports for select travelers
Bangalore : COVID-19 Technical Advisory Committee recommendations, as well as guidelines from the Centre, lead the State government to exempt individuals arriving from the UK, Europe, or the Middle East from RT-PCR testing at airports.
Previous to this rule, all test reports, regardless of the outcome, were required to be presented. Karnataka made this requirement to minimize the risk of variants being imported from various entry points into the state.
Passengers arriving from Brazil and South Africa should continue to provide their samples at the airport entry points and wait for the results. An airport circular issued on Tuesday stated that passengers could only leave if the test was negative. Now, passengers arriving from the U.K., Europe, and the Middle East can give their samples and leave the airport for further compliance.
