Abu Dhabi – The UAE welcomed the adoption by the United Nations Human Rights Council of a draft resolution to combat religious hatred, which constitutes incitement to discrimination, hostility or violence, stressing the need to establish respect for religions, tolerance and peaceful coexistence, which are the principles that remain the most effective path towards prosperity, progress and coexistence.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the UAE commends this step, which is consistent with the Security Council’s unanimous adoption of the resolution submitted by the State and the United Kingdom on “international tolerance, peace and security” during its periodic presidency of the Council last June, which strengthens international efforts by adopting a comprehensive approach that promotes tolerance and coexistence. peaceful.
The Ministry affirmed the commitment of the UAE, as a member of the Human Rights Council for the period 2022-2024, to support mutual understanding and strengthen bridges of communication and dialogue, in a way that contributes to stability and prosperity regionally and internationally, and that it always seeks to embody human brotherhood and respect for freedom of religious belief, and will continue all its efforts in support of tolerance and moderation.
