After Iran said it had a court order to confiscate the ship, US oil giant Chevron announced that the Bahamas-flagged Richmond Voyager was not a party to any Gulf accident during the past days.
A company spokesperson said Chevron had not received any notification of legal action, court order, or otherwise from Iran.
Furthermore, he added, contrary to some sources, the Richmond Voyager was not involved in any collision in the Gulf.
The latest series of attacks
It is noteworthy that the US Navy announced on Wednesday that it had intervened to prevent Iran from seizing two commercial tankers, one of which is the Richmond Voyager, operated by Chevron in the Gulf of Oman, in the latest series of attacks on ships in the region since 2019.
The Navy said members of the Iranian Navy fired multiple rounds of gunfire at the Richmond Voyager, but the ship sustained no significant damage and the sailors on board were uninjured.
And official media indicated that there was a court order to detain the tanker after it collided with an Iranian ship.
