Bangalore: The opposition Congress, which has accused the state government of distorting the number of Kovid-19 casualties, has demanded compensation for victims’ families under the National Disaster Management Act.

According to the National Disaster Management Act, Congress has said that the family members of the deceased have to be paid Rs 4 lakh by the government but the government has announced only one lakh compensation.

The Congress party is in charge of Maharashtra. K Patil, speaking at a press conference on June 16, said 33,033 people were killed by Kovid-19 in the state on June 14.

But from January 1, 2021 to June 13, 3,27,985 people in the state died from Kovid-19. But the gap between 3.28 lakh and 33,033 is raising the question. What is the number of people who have died naturally on this basis? Patil asked.

The government has not made public the reports of those who died in 2020. HK Patil estimates 88,000 deaths from January to June, according to 2018-19 figures

Estimates suggest that by 2021 there would be 1.10 lakh deaths, but 3.28 lakh deaths are over, Patil said.

Excluding 1.10 lakh deaths, the total death toll is 2.18 lakh. This is a very high figure. Patil said that 2.25 lakh deaths were twisted, which is inhuman.

The government has stopped the monthly report of the deceased. Patil said the report on the cause of medically certified deaths for the years 2019-20 and 2020-21 has been discontinued.
