They sleep on roadsides, bus and train stations, leaving their long hair and beards. One wonders what the financial condition of those who do not have time for accommodation and food can be.

Despite owning so much property, Bharat Jain continues to beg in famous areas like Mumbai’s Azad Maidan or Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT). While it is difficult for many in the city to earn a hundred rupees by working long hours, Jain is known to collect/earn 2,000 to 2,500 rupees a day in 10 to 12 hours thanks to the kindness of Indians.

In 2019, Burju Chandra Azad, a beggar, died while crossing train tracks in Govandi. After his death, the police went to his house and found Rs 1.5 lakh in cash. They were almost all coins. When the investigation continued, it came to light that more than 8.7 lakhs had been deposited in the bank in the name of Azad.
Another famous beggar is Mumbaian Krishna Kumar Gita, who owns a flat in Nala Sopara. He was followed by Sarvatiya Devi of Patna and Sambhaji Kale of Solapur. These persons are reported to be begging by profession and have money and property worth lakhs of rupees in their name.
