The Ministry of Interior: Converting 107 Services to digital by 100%
Abu Dhabi: The Ministry of Interior revealed that more than 107 services have been automated at 100% of its services, some of which include the use of modern technologies such as artificial intelligence. For example, the employment of the most prominent artificial intelligence tools such as machine learning and computer vision in the service of issuing a “criminal case search certificate” reduced the service time from 48 hours to a few minutes, which contributed to raising the happiness of customers and the quality of digital life.
Major Saif Al Mazrouei, Deputy Director of the Smart Security Systems Department in the General Department of Smart Services and Digital Security at the Ministry of Interior, praised the efforts of the UAE government for future services, pointing out the Ministry’s keenness to provide proactive quality services to customers from all segments of society, based on their needs and requirements, by relying on digital transformation and artificial intelligence.
He said that the UAE strategy for artificial intelligence included activating many programs, initiatives and workshops in all government agencies, organizing an annual global summit, launching government accelerators for artificial intelligence, to work on developing the capabilities of senior government leaders, raising the skills of all technology-related jobs, and organizing training courses for government employees.
Regarding the Ministry of Interior’s proactivity in embracing the idea of artificial intelligence at the level of smart services, Major Saeed Al-Shibli, Deputy Director of the Digital Security Department at the General Directorate of Smart Services and Digital Security at the Ministry of Interior, confirmed that the Ministry is considered one of the leading agencies locally and regionally in digital transformation.
He referred to the adoption of artificial intelligence technologies in the development of smart services, whether those that serve the public or services and smart security systems that support the implementation of the tasks entrusted to the Ministry and its various organizational units. This includes, for example, a set of smart services enhanced by artificial intelligence technologies provided within the smartphone application, which provides services for the personal assistant to provide support, assistance and answers to questions of customers of all categories, nationalities and languages efficiently and at high speed.
He added, during his interview with the 999 magazine issued by the Ministry of Interior, that in terms of operational operations, the Ministry, represented by the General Directorate of Smart Services and Digital Security, received studies that were conducted during the previous years to explore the future and anticipate opportunities and technical changes, which recommended the need to prepare for this qualitative shift and ensure that all developed projects and systems include sufficient flexibility and capabilities of artificial intelligence.
Major Al-Shibli said: The launch of the “GBT Chat” service was a shock and a surprise even to experts and specialists in the field of artificial intelligence, and many questions were raised about the methodology for developing this system and the values and ideas it was trained on in light of the lack of understanding or global controls for the governance of this field.
