Al-Issa, a former Saudi justice minister, is on a five-day visit to India and is considered a leading global voice for moderate Islam.
Addressing a program in the capital Delhi, Al Issa said that for the past several days, Indians have been talking about various components of society. Regarding the Muslim society in India, he said that he is proud of his constitution and proud of his nation. At the same time, the Muslims of India are also proud of the brotherhood of the country, which they share with the rest of the Indian society. Significantly, Al-Issa is currently the Secretary General of the Muslim World League, a Saudi Arabia-based organization that represents Muslims worldwide. He was delivering a speech at a program organized at the India Islamic Cultural Center today.
India gave a lot of knowledge to the world
Al-Issa spoke much about Indian wisdom in his speech. He said that Indian education has contributed a lot to humanity. He said that there is this pessimistic theory in the world, which says that clash of civilizations is inevitable, but India is a living example of the spirit of co-existence. He further said that the Muslim World League has launched an initiative called “Building a Bridge between East and West” from the UN platform. Al-Issa arrived in India on Monday and will also be meeting External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Minority Affairs Minister Smriti Irani. According to sources, he may also meet President Draupadi Murmu.
