Sunken slab of Maravoor bridge restored
Mangaluru: After Experts from Bengaluru and Kerala were consulted the work of slab lifting started using advanced machinery in slab lifting process Maravoor Bridge’s slab was lifted and repaired on Friday after sinking a few feet near a month ago. In the early morning hours of June 15, the final slab of a bridge built 54 years ago on the Phalguni River had sunk 2.5 feet. After the slab sank, the bridge was closed for almost a month.
A new bridge construction project is believed to have caused rainwater to flow only under one slab, thus causing it to sink. A new bridge is being built next to the existing bridge.
