The real estate sector was heavily damaged by the closing of these offices, and the district’s financial status had suffered a hit. The real estate industry has urged that these offices be allowed to open with half-staff. The earnings from these offices in the Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts used to be around Rs 1.5 crore per day
Considering the gravity of the situation the govt decided to re open of Sub Registrar Offices of Dakshina Kannada district presently have nine sub-registrar offices and six in Udupi. Many people had secured tokens for the purchase and selling of property by setting their dates in advance. Registrations were put on hold when the offices’ operations were abruptly halted. Those who have tokens must now set new dates and have to re-purchase the tokens.
The offices of the sub-registrars, which had been closed for a month owing to a coronavirus-related lockdown, reopened on Monday, June 7. New registrations are now being accepted. From May 7 forward, these offices were closed.
