Bangalore, May 12: Former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti has said that the current state of affairs in Sri Lanka is a warning to India. He tweeted yesterday that Sri Lanka’s economic and political crisis may be a lesson for India.
“There has been an atmosphere of fear and communal hysteria in India since 2014,” he said.

The critical situation in Sri Lanka:
Sri Lanka has been experiencing economic stagnation for a number of years now. As a result, political stumbling blocks have been created. Sri Lanka has been in this situation for a number of reasons, due to various schemes, loans on credit, and inadequate financial recovery.

Mehbooba Mufti highlighted the pluralistic and rampant nationalism issue in Sri Lanka and said it was a lesson for India. There are views that the Rajapaksa family in Sri Lanka, after returning to power, focused on making decisions that complement nationalism and pluralism. The impression that Muslims are a threat to the Sinhalese culture, such as the ban on burqa etc. are anti-minority. Some have criticized and worried that India has a similar climate. The PDP chairperson tweeted the same thing.
