On Tuesday, July 14, authorities in Hyderabad cremated the body of Rajkumar, the prime accused in the murder of six people, including a minor girl, in Shabad of Rangareddy district. The cremation took place at the Chevella cremation ground under tight police security. Rajkumar’s body was found on the outskirts of Penjarla village in Kothur mandal, with police suspecting that he died after consuming pesticide. The exact cause of death will be confirmed after the post-mortem examination, which was conducted at the Chevella Government Hospital. Despite his parents visiting the hospital to identify the body, none of Rajkumar’s family members came forward to perform the last rites, reportedly due to the loss of family honour. Consequently, municipal authorities conducted the cremation, with police personnel present to prevent any untoward incidents. Rajkumar had been on the run since the Shabad mass murder case, in which six people, including his wife and two young sons, were killed. The police investigation into the case is ongoing, with the post-mortem report on Rajkumar’s death still awaited. The accused had incurred a debt of over Rs 2 crore from online betting, which had left him mentally disturbed. A reward of Rs 5 lakh had been declared for information leading to his capture, but he was found dead before he could be apprehended.
