The announcement, issued on 9 September 2026, cites Article 24 of the Executive Regulations of the Labour Law as the legal basis. Employers across the Kingdom must therefore grant the day off in accordance with the stipulated provisions.
National Day commemorates the founding of Saudi Arabia in 1932 when King Abdulaziz Al Saud united the disparate tribal regions into a single state. The occasion is traditionally observed with a series of public events that showcase the nation’s cultural heritage.
Across major cities, streets will host parades, open‑air concerts, and fireworks displays that illuminate the night sky. Cultural programmes highlighting Saudi art, music, and folklore are scheduled in public squares and community centres, drawing families and tourists alike.
