Born on 01 June 1959, Rudrappa Lamani graduated BA LLB. Rudrappa Manappa Lamani, who entered politics in 1980, was elected as a member of the Zilla Parishad from 1985 to 1989. From 1990 to 1994, Rudrappa Lamani worked hard as an active worker of Congress. Still in 1994, Badagi was a test of luck from the Assembly Constituency. However, he lost to Rudrappa Lamani in the first assembly election in which he too contested.
In the 1999 assembly election, Rudrappa Manappa Lamani, who contested from Badagi constituency, won against Nehru Olekar by about 18 thousand votes. In the 2004 elections, Rudrappa Lamani, who was contesting from Badagi for re-election, lost against Nehru Olekar. Rudrappa Lamani, who contested from Haveri Assembly Constituency four times in a row after the redistribution of constituencies in 2008, was elected as an MLA in 2013 and 2023. After entering politics, Rudrappa Lamani has done many social works, brought water from Tungabhadra river through pipeline and solved drinking water problem of some villages of Badagi taluk and Ranebennur taluk. He has also provided irrigation facilities for 13 thousand acres of land in Mallapur, Gudda. He is credited with the development of Badagi’s famous chilli market and construction of APMC complex and stadiums.
Itta has tried to solve the problem of drinking water in Haveri city and has done many works including the development of slums in Haveri city. Rudrappa Lamani, who is the chairman of Sant Sree Sewalal Janmasthan Pratishthan at Suragondanakoppa in Honnali taluk, Rudrappa Lamani is responsible for the formation of Sant Sewalal Janmasthan Development Authority.
