On Tuesday, October 20, RSS Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat addressed a gathering in Nagpur, delivering his annual Vijayadashami speech and warning that any attempt to force a regime change in India will not succeed. The remarks came as anti‑Election Commission protests and calls for systemic reforms continue across the country.
Speaking from the podium, Bhagwat highlighted that public movements must concentrate on solving genuine problems rather than inflaming social animosity or pursuing short‑term electoral gains. He referenced recent unrest in France, Bangladesh and Nepal, suggesting that foreign turbulence should not be replicated on Indian soil.
The RSS chief stressed that engineered agitations aimed at toppling elected institutions do not address the root causes of discontent. “Movements must stay within the boundaries of propriety and be directed toward constructive solutions,” he said, urging protest leaders to avoid hatred and vote‑seeking tactics that could harm long‑term stability.
Emphasising dialogue, Bhagwat argued that lasting answers emerge from mutual discourse, not perpetual demonstration. He called on political parties and civil society to prioritise social harmony over opportunistic maneuvering.
Beyond the immediate political context, Bhagwat painted a broader vision of national integration and global leadership. Referring to the Preamble of the Constitution – “We, the People of India” – he reminded listeners that unity remains an eternal principle despite changing societal dynamics. The concept of “Svabodh” or self‑awareness, he said, should guide citizens as they adapt to modern challenges.
Recalling the sacrifices of freedom fighters, Bhagwat warned that forgetting core values historically weakened the nation and led to foreign subjugation. He placed the responsibility of steering India toward the status of Vishwaguru squarely on the younger generation. The address also touched upon recent natural calamities and environmental disruptions, urging collective resilience in the face of such threats.
