Dubai. India captain Rohit Sharma returned to the top 10 in the latest ICC men’s Test batting rankings released on Wednesday, while young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal made it to the rankings for the first time after scoring a brilliant century on debut.
Rohit and Jaiswal played a key role in India’s big win over the West Indies with impressive centuries in the opening Test of the two-match ICC World Test Championship series in Dominica.
The 36-year-old Rohit’s knock of 103 saw the Indian skipper move up three places and break into the top 10 once again, joining compatriot Rishabh Pant (11th) and former skipper Virat Kohli (11th) as the highest-ranked Indian batsman. 14th) rated slightly ahead.
On the other hand, Jaiswal entered the batting rankings at 73rd position after a brilliant 171 off 387 balls against the West Indies in his Test debut for his country.

In the bowling charts, veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has extended his lead at the top after taking 12 wickets in the first Test against West Indies. Ashwin has improved his overall rating by 24 rating points with a brilliant bowling performance, giving him a 56-point lead over Australia skipper Pat Cummins. Cummins is in second place.
Fellow India spinner Ravindra Jadeja, who took five wickets, has moved up three places to seventh in the bowler rankings.(IANS)
