The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) has ordered Zayaka Food Court in Kondapur to close indefinitely and suspended its FSSAI licence after inspectors uncovered serious hygiene failures during a routine check on Wednesday, June 24, 2026. Officials found stale chicken biryani, spoiled vegetables, and egg mayonnaise stored in unsuitable conditions inside cold storage. A non-functional freezer was being used to hold food, while raw material and packaging areas showed clear signs of rodent infestation — including rat burrows, droppings, and gnawed packaging. Food items were also not segregated properly.
The CMC directed the management not to resume operations until all deficiencies are corrected, a fresh inspection clears the premises, and the licence suspension is lifted.
Simultaneous inspections at other outlets revealed similar lapses. At Vijetha Supermarket Private Limited in Tellapur, inspectors found rotten fruit, poor-quality peanuts, expired products, and a bloated Frooti bottle on the shelf. Dead insects sat on food racks, fly traps were missing, cleaning schedules were not followed, and several oil packets were dusty and leaking. Medical fitness records for food handlers were absent. Officials collected peanut samples for lab testing and recommended an Improvement Notice, asking the management to strengthen cleaning, sorting, and adopt the First In, First Out (FIFO) method.
At Protein Chef in Madhapur, the team found poor cleaning, unclean drains, and a freezer containing stale, unwrapped food — raising cross-contamination risks. Frozen items were thawed improperly, hot water sanitation was ignored, and open dustbins sat near the cooking area. Food handlers lacked medical fitness records. Samples were taken for analysis.
The crackdown is part of a broader CMC drive to enforce food safety standards across Cyberabad limits.
