Renowned scientist Kasturi Rangan suffers heart attack in Sri Lanka: Airlifted to Bangalore
Bengaluru, July 10: Renowned space scientist Kasthuri Rangan has reportedly suffered a heart attack in Sri Lanka. Government sources said that they will be brought to Bangalore by airlift from Sri Lanka.
Currently, his health condition is stable. He will be brought to Bangalore on Monday evening for further treatment. After that we got information that he will be taken to Narayana Hrudayalaya Hospital.
Renowned cardiologist, head of Narayana Hridayala Dr. Devi Shetty is closely monitoring Kasthuri Rangan’s health.
83-year-old Kasturi Rangan is a renowned Indian scientist. He has been honored with the country’s highest civilian awards such as the prestigious Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan.
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said on Twitter that the central and state governments are also closely monitoring Kasthurirangan’s health and treatment.
Dr Kasturi Rangan has served as Chancellor of both the Central University of Rajasthan and NIIT University. He also served as the former Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University. He has worked as the former chairman of Karnataka Knowledge Commission.
He served as Distinguished Member of Rajya Sabha from 2003 to 2009. Kasturi Rangan holds an important position as a member of the Planning Commission of India.
From April 2004 to 2009, he held the position of Director at the National Institute of Advanced Studies, Bangalore. Currently, he is the Chairman of the New Education Policy Drafting Committee.
