New Delhi: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Thursday criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s habit of criticizing India abroad and it is not in the interest of the country to take the internal affairs of the country to the outside world. He expressed confidence that BJP will win the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Referring to Rahul Gandhi’s recent remarks at an event in America, the minister said, ‘The world is watching us’.

Whenever Rahul Gandhi goes out of the country, it has become a habit to criticize the country and comment on our politics. The world is watching us. Elections keep happening, sometimes one party wins and sometimes the other wins. If there was no democracy in the country, such a change would not have happened. The results of all the elections would have been the same. 2024 result to wahi hoga, hamem pata hai…’ said Jaishankar.

Addressing a press conference after the Modi government completed nine years, Jaishankar said Rahul Gandhi expected outside support to work in India and if the narrative against the BJP-led government did not work in India, it would be taken abroad.

‘If you see, all these allegations (against the government) have already been made in India. If this narrative does not work in India or is not given attention in the country, it is taken out of the country. They expect that outside support will work in India” he said.

“There is democracy in our country. We have something for you. You will also have some politics. But, we also have some politics. I have no objection whatever they do inside the country. But, I think it is not in the interest of the nation to take national politics outside the country. I don’t think it adds to his credibility,’ he said.

Rahul Gandhi, who is currently on a US tour, has criticized the government on several issues.

At an event in America, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tries to drive an Indian car by looking at the rearview mirror. He said it would lead to one accident after another.
