On Saturday, Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi will participate in the Congress party’s ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ programme at Prayagraj’s KP Ground, where he will engage with a large gathering of students. The event, which was briefly embroiled in controversy after the KP Trust initially revoked permission, will proceed as planned from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Gandhi will depart from Delhi at 2 p.m. and travel to Prayagraj, arriving at the KP Ground to interact with students. The permission for the event was restored after the KP Trust announced on Thursday night that it would allow the Congress to hold the programme, subject to certain conditions. This decision came amid a political row, with the Congress accusing the Uttar Pradesh government of attempting to prevent the event. The party maintained that it would hold the programme as scheduled, despite the challenges posed by the BJP-led state government. Uttar Pradesh Congress president Ajay Rai shared Gandhi’s itinerary, which includes a visit to Anand Bhavan before the student interaction programme. Congress leaders, including Rajendra Pal Gautam and MPs Kishori Lal Sharma, Tanuj Punia, and Imran Masood, alleged that the BJP was unsettled by Gandhi’s efforts to raise issues concerning students and youth. Following the event, Gandhi will leave for the airport and return to Delhi on a special flight at around 9:30 p.m.
