Mangaluru, Aug 11: At the press club’s ‘Meet the Press’ event on Wednesday August 11, the DC Dr. Rajendra K.V said,  that “Dakshina Kannada is known for its religious places. In the next month, there are several festivals, such as Nagara Panchami, Ganesh Chaturthi, and others. Festivals should be held without public gatherings and in a simple manner. During Ganesh Chaturthi, public celebrations are restricted, including parades and idol installation in public places. It is likely that the guidelines will be valid until Dasara. Depending on the situation, guidelines may be made stricter or more relaxed.

The current situation might delay the reopening of schools and colleges in the district. In order to make a decision, we will meet with the disaster management authority. There are many questions about the use of weekend lockdown. Most people don’t understand why weekend lockdowns are implemented. It’s important to avoid unnecessary movement to malls and lockdowns during tourist weekends. People from Kerala come in large numbers for shopping during the festival season. We need to take measures at the borders as well.

It is very important for the public to cooperate. Social responsibility plays a very important role in tackling the pandemic. When people see any symptoms, they should wear masks, sanitize, avoid attending functions, and get tested. They avoid getting tested because they don’t want to move to Covid care centers. Some people prefer to be in home isolation, but they should follow it strictly. The other members of the household should stay indoors when an infected person is in isolation.
