Girish Chandra Murmu, who has been in government service, has served in various posts including Additional Secretary in various departments including Finance and Revenue.

Girish Murmu has earlier served in key posts in the state of Gujarat. He has vast experience working in the administrative, financial and infrastructure sectors.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Utkal University. He holds an MBA from Burning Have Lives. 1985 batch IAS officer of Gujarat cadre.

How many votes do you need ?; 776 MPs, 4,120 MLAs and 10,98,903 voters elect the President. The BJP has more than 50% of the vote.

There is talk of continuing the current President Ramanath Kovind for another term. But none other than Rajendra Prasad has been elected president for a second term.
