Political strategist Prashant Kishor signaled a fallout with the Congress in a tweet this morning as he linked the recent protests over eight deaths in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur to the hopes of “revival of the GOP (Grand Old Party)-led opposition”. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was arrested and several top party leaders were detained this week amid protests against the violence in the UP district on Sunday – where four farmers also died – before Rahul Gandhi with his sister finally met the families of those killed on Wednesday.
People looking for a quick, spontaneous revival of GOP led opposition based on #LakhimpurKheri incident are setting themselves up for a big disappoinment.
Unfortunately there are no quick fix solutions to the deep-rooted problems and structural weakness of GOP.

“People looking for a quick, spontaneous revival of (the) GOP-led opposition based on #LakhimpurKheri incident are setting themselves up for a big disappointment. Unfortunately there are no quick fix solutions to the deep-rooted problems and structural weakness of GOP,” Mr Kishor, 44, tweeted, as he suggested the Congress’s protests this week can’t be viewed as “quick-fix solutions”.
