PM Narendra Modi government has given false promises to farmers: Mallikarjuna Kharge

New Delhi: Slamming Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress National President Mallikarjuna Kharge accused the Modi government of giving false promises to the country’s farmers.

He tweeted about this on Thursday, ‘Modi government had given two promises to the farmers of the country. Fixing the minimum support price at ‘cost + 50 percent profit’ and doubling the income of farmers in the country by 2022. Now both these promises are false.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday approved the hike in the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for Kharif crops.

Commenting on this, Kharge said, ‘The Modi government, which is starving for PR, has shown that they will increase the MSP for the Kharif crop. However, crops are not being purchased from farmers at MSP rates. The budget for agriculture has been cut’ he tweeted.

In a series of tweets, Modi-led central government has completed nine years and the government has become a curse for 62 crore farmers. The agriculture budget has been cut. Despite the promise of Rs 1 lakh crore agricultural infrastructure fund, only Rs 12,000 crore has been disbursed in three years. He complained that it was reserved.

‘Budget cuts for agriculture! Names of 2 Crore Farmers Removed from Kisan Samman Fund! There have been cuts in the agriculture budget and only Rs 12,000 crore over three years despite the promise of a Rs 1 lakh crore farm infrastructure fund. Given. 9 years of Modi government has become a curse for 62 crore farmers of the country,” Kharge tweeted.
