The Prime Minister highlighted that the nation is poised to observe the 10th anniversary of this significant military operation.
The Indian Army conducted the surgical strike on September 28-29, 2016, targeting terrorist hideouts situated across the Line of Control (LoC) in Pakistan. Modi remarked that the world witnessed with astonishment how Indian soldiers took decisive action against terrorism by crossing the LoC, effectively showcasing India's anti-terrorism policy on a global stage. He emphasized that the strike served as a fitting response to the prolonged pain India has endured due to terrorism.
Modi further asserted that India has consistently demonstrated in recent years that any terrorist attacks would elicit a robust response. He drew a contrast with earlier periods when serial blasts were a frequent occurrence, citing the September 13, 2008 Delhi blasts and the devastating 26/11 Mumbai attacks later that year. Touching upon global terrorism, Modi recalled the September 11, 2001, terror attacks in the United States, noting that several Indian nationals were among the victims at the World Trade Center.
