Parents Urged to Prioritise Emotional Growth Over Academic Pressure at St Thomas School Byndoor

Byndoor: Dr Nagaraj S, an academic vice principal and senior consultant from Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwar Ayurveda College and Research Centre in Udupi, addressed parents at St Thomas CBSE School on Saturday. Speaking as the chief guest and resource person during the school's Parents' General Assembly and Compass programme, he delivered a talk on "Role of Parents in Physical and Emotional Maturity of Children."

Dr Nagaraj urged mothers and fathers to avoid turning children into "mere scoring machines." He stressed that understanding a child's emotions and guiding them correctly is far more critical in today's fast-changing world. "Their mental and emotional maturity is just as important as their physical development," he said.

The event took place in the school's open hall. Reverend Father Philip Nelliwila, the principal, presided over the gathering. He emphasised that active collaboration between parents and the school is essential for shaping a child's future. "Only when we all work together can we create a better culture and a brighter future for children," Father Philip noted.

Members of the school management board, teaching staff, and hundreds of parents attended the programme. Teacher Master Praveen served as the narrator. Vice Principal Sister Carmel delivered the welcome address, and Teacher Helen proposed the vote of thanks.
