Odisha : OTV introduces state’s first artificial intelligence news anchor ‘Lisa’
Bhubaneswar, July 11: Artificial intelligence (AI) is an important technology that can cover almost all sectors of the world. This has benefits and harms. In which field AI has entered the job, the employees there can get a sting.
Now Odisha’s private news channel ‘Odisha TV’ has introduced Odisha’s very first Artificial Intelligence (AI) generated news anchor. Her name is ‘Lisa’. She tells news in English and Odia.
The days are not far when news anchors, who have been reporting on artificial intelligence and technology innovation for a long time, will lose their jobs. This does not only apply to the media sector.
Odisha News Channel has decided to use the AI-powered Lisa as a news anchor on all its platforms, including its digital platform. It is reported in the media that ‘Odisha TV’ has claimed that this is the organization’s gift to Odisha’s TV journalism.

One of the challenges is speaking training
A big challenge was to train AI Lisa to speak Odia. A level of progress has been achieved through continuous efforts. But this is not enough, more works and experiments are going on.
Litisha Mangat Panda, Digital Business Head of OTV, informed that besides reading the news, Lisa will be trained to speak easily with others.
Odisha TV news media is the first news channel to come up in this state. Started in 1997 in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. From there it gradually expanded to all the major cities of the state. Initially a cable TV, Odisha TV changed to a satellite channel in 2006.
Information about AI presenters who have already arrived
In March 2023 this year, ‘Aaj Tak’ news channel introduced India’s first AI news anchor ‘Sana’. After that, ‘Sana’ was introduced in the program ‘Black and White’. It may be recalled here that last April, Kuwait News, a Kuwaiti-based media organization, introduced an AI news anchor called Fedah.
