How can any combination of dosa be good without sambar! But in a restaurant in Bihar, the whole scandal happened because of not giving that sambar. The restaurant will now have to pay a fine of Rs 3,500 for selling Masala Dosa for Rs 140. But why? Because of the incident of 15 August 2022, it was the birthday of a lawyer named Manish Gupta. He wanted to eat masala dosa on his birthday. He ordered Masala Dosa at a restaurant in Boxer, Bihar. Whose cost was 140 rupees. Later the lawyer noticed that there was no sambar with the dosa. He was surprised to see this. Contacted the restaurant. The restaurant authorities could not answer why sambar was not served with the dosa. Rather the restaurant owner said, “Do you want to buy the whole restaurant for 140 taka?”
After which the lawyer decided to fight a legal battle against it. Gave a legal notice to the restaurant. But there was no response from the restaurant. After this, Manish lodged a complaint with the District Consumer Commission. After about 11 months, the consumer commission’s division bench held the restaurant guilty. Along with this, the commission ordered to impose a fine of Rs 3 thousand 500.

The Bench took note of the mental, physical and financial suffering caused to the petitioner Manish Gupta. After which a fine of Rs 3,500 was imposed on the restaurant. The fine was imposed in two parts, Rs 1,500 as litigation cost and Rs 2,000 as principal fine. The court said that if the payment is not made on time, the restaurant will also have to pay 8 per cent interest on the fine amount.
