On the occasion of National Doctors’ Day, Nitte University recognized the tireless efforts of three distinguished doctors at the Avishkar Auditorium in Deralakatte, Ullal. Vishal Hegde, Chancellor of Nitte University, honored Dr. Saraswati Venugopal, a renowned gynecologist from Payyanur, Kerala, Dr. M.S. Bhat Marigoli, a family physician from Ummachagi, Yellapur, and Dr. Sudhesh K. Derabail, a family physician from Mangaluru. These senior doctors, with 40-50 years of experience, were lauded for their unwavering commitment to the medical field. Hegde emphasized that doctors are always available, 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, prioritizing patients’ lives over personal celebrations and family events.

Prof. M. Shantharam Shetty, Pro-Chancellor of Nitte University, highlighted the crucial role doctors played during the COVID pandemic, putting the health of society above their own families. He noted that despite technological advancements, doctors remain at the core of the medical field, with their knowledge, skill, and service-mindedness earning global respect. The event, organized by K.S. Hegde Charitable Hospital and K.S. Hegde Medical Academy, was attended by prominent guests, including Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof. M.S. Moodithaya and Registrar Prof. Harsha Halahalli.

The honored doctors have inspired a new generation of medical professionals with their dedication and expertise. As the medical field continues to evolve with technologies like robotic surgery and artificial intelligence, the importance of doctors’ experience and discretion remains unparalleled.
