On Sunday, the Udupi District Junior Athletics Championship-2026 took place at Mahatma Gandhi District Stadium in Ajjarakad, Udupi, with Nitte Educational Trust claiming the Overall Award. The event was jointly organized by the Udupi District Athletics Association and Track and Field Club Udupi. The Runners Award went to Udupi Youth Sports Department Residential School. The winners received their awards at the closing ceremony, which was attended by Additional District Collector Habid Gadyal as the chief guest. Other notable attendees included Hariprasad Rai, President of Udupi District Amateur Athletics Association, and A. Raju Velu, Secretary of Karnataka Athletics Association. The sports meet was inaugurated by Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna, with Hariprasad Rai presiding over the event. Over 400 athletes participated in the competition, which featured categories for under 14, under 16, under 18, and under 20 years. The ceremony also honored Physical Director Ganesh Pujari, who was recently selected as the director of Nitte University. The event was well-represented by various dignitaries, including Diwakar Ganapathy Naik, Vice President of Udupi Runners Club, and Dr. Roshan Kumar Shetty, Assistant Director of Youth Empowerment and Sports Department.
