On Tuesday, New Delhi witnessed a fiery protest over the NEET paper leak, with the opposition launching a scathing attack on the BJP-led NDA government. The Samajwadi Party and Congress questioned the government’s accountability, drawing parallels between the police action and the regimes of Adolf Hitler and the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. A protest march, led by the Cockroach Janta Party, demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the May 3 NEET paper leak.
Samajwadi Party MP Akhilesh Yadav condemned the police action, stating that people suffered injuries, including head wounds and fractures, and were subjected to tear gas. He emphasized the government’s responsibility to provide medical treatment to the injured. Yadav also compared the police action to Hitler’s regime, deeming it unacceptable in a democracy.
Congress MP Jebi Mather drew similarities between the police action and the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, highlighting the use of barricades, lathi charges, and tear gas against peaceful protesters. Congress MP Karti Chidambaram questioned the Centre’s accountability, stressing the need for a robust and honest examination system. Other Congress MPs, including Deepender Hooda, K.C. Venugopal, and Praniti Shinde, also condemned the police action and demanded accountability.
