From July 1 to 10, the National Institute of Technology, Suratkal, hosted the annual joint training camp of NCC cadets, which officially concluded on July 10, although the launch took place on July 2. Around 555 NCC cadets from various units, including 18, 19, 20, and 21 Karnataka Battalions, participated in the camp. The cadets, belonging to units under the Mangalore NCC Group Headquarters, were led by Group Commander Col. Viraj Kamath and Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Nikhil Khullar. The camp provided comprehensive training, covering physical drills, weapons handling, and live firing exercises. Essential war skills, such as map reading and field craft, were also taught. Additionally, preparation classes for NCC ‘B’ and ‘C’ Certificate Examinations were conducted, along with coaching for the Group Level Services Selection Board. A cyber training workshop, conducted by Dr. A from NITK Suratkal’s Information Technology Department, was also part of the camp. The cadets engaged in environmental protection, public service, and community development activities. The best-performing 92 cadets were selected for the prestigious ‘Thal Sainik Camp’. The assistant NCC officers, including Kya. P. Sam Johnson, Captain H. Sivananda Nayaka, Lt Yatish Kumar, Lt Hatikant, Sub Lt Prashant Kamath, and Officer Madhushree, guided the cadets throughout the camp.
