Mumbai/New Delhi. Heavy rains are continuing in large parts of the country including Maharashtra. Normal life thrown out of gear in Mumbai due to heavy rains. Today a holiday has been declared in schools.

On the other hand, a big accident has happened in Raigarh, Maharashtra. About 50 houses have been hit by a landslide in Irshalwadi village of Khalapur tehsil of the district. So far 5 deaths have been reported. More than 20 people have been rescued. The whole village has become grounded. More than 100 people were buried, of whom 75 have been rescued. Two teams of NDRF are on the spot. Relief and rescue work is going on.

Raigarh Police has told that more than 100 officers of police and district administration are engaged in rescue work. Help is pouring in from NDRF, local people and some NGOs. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has reached the spot and is taking stock of the road and rescue operations.
