On Wednesday, State Health and Family Welfare and District In-charge Minister U.T. Khader convened an emergency meeting with officials at the Bantwal Taluk Panchayat auditorium to address the aftermath of rain damage in the region. Minister Khader emphasized the importance of officials working together as a team to provide timely benefits to the people. He stressed that grassroots officials must immediately inform taluk and district level officials about any rain damage and requested that they do not hide any shortcomings under their departmental jurisdiction. The minister warned that if officials fail to deliver, the people will target the government, elected representatives, and ministers.
During the meeting, Minister Khader also discussed the Kalladka school bus accident, questioning departmental officials about the bus’s insurance and documents. Upon learning that the bus was uninsured, he instructed officials to ensure that all school vehicles have proper documentation. The minister also mentioned that the government has provided compensation to the family of the child who died in the accident and instructed officials to disburse the insurance amount or obtain compensation from the bus owner.
Former minister B. Ramanath Rai and other public members drew attention to the lack of KDP meetings and illegal regularization committee meetings in the taluk, which has hindered development. Minister Khader instructed the Chief Officer to invite the Assistant Commissioner and hold a meeting in the presence of the public. The minister also questioned health officials about the availability of medicines for snake bites and instructed them to ensure a steady supply. Additionally, he instructed the Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer to preserve funds for public development and not use them for office repairs or extravagance.
