Milagres College in Mangaluru launched a comprehensive nine-day book exhibition and sale on Saturday, August 22, opening its doors to students, staff, and the wider public. Organized through a joint effort by the Milagres College Library Association, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell, and Used Book R, Hampanakatta, the extensive fair, initially inaugurated in the college hall, will now be accessible daily until August 30.

Fr. Rupesh Ashok Modta, who serves as the Public Relations Officer for Mangalore Diocese and is the Manager and Editor of 'Rakno Weekly', officially inaugurated the event. During his address, Fr. Modta powerfully articulated that despite the pervasive spread of digital media, traditional books maintain their crucial position as fundamental conduits of knowledge and wisdom. He specifically advised students against confining their learning to academic textbooks, instead encouraging them to broaden their intellectual horizons by exploring a diverse range of subjects through extensive reading.

Leading the inaugural ceremony, Rev. Fr. Ivan Michael Rodrigues, the Convener of Milagres Educational Institutions, underscored the vital contribution of books to both the academic progress and personal enrichment of young learners. He passionately urged students to foster and maintain a consistent habit of reading throughout their lives.

Rev. Dr. Alvin Seravo, the Principal of Milagres College, conveyed his sincere wishes for the exhibition's success. Among those attending the launch were governing body member Alvin Rosario, college librarian Pramila D'Souza, lecturer Denzil de Costa, and Spurthi, the student secretary for the library. Vice Principal Glancia Fernandez extended a warm welcome to all present, while student Nickel competently narrated the program. Dr. Asha Jyoti concluded the proceedings with a heartfelt vote of thanks.

The expansive book exhibition and sale invites all interested individuals to visit the Milagres College library between 9 am and 8 pm each day, providing a valuable opportunity to discover new titles and engage with a world of literature.
