Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) National President Mayawati marked the Mahaparinirvan Diwas of party founder Kanshi Ram in Lucknow by renewing her call for the Central government to bestow the Bharat Ratna upon him. Speaking from the BSP's central camp office at 9 Mall Avenue, she simultaneously declared the Bahujan Samaj her 'true family' and reaffirmed her commitment to keeping the party and its foundational movement free from dynastic politics.

During the commemorative event, Mayawati paid floral tributes at Kanshi Ram's statue, pledging to advance his ideals and mission. She underscored his life's dedication to furthering the caravan of self-respect and dignity championed by Babasaheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar. Kanshi Ram, she noted, tirelessly worked to transform the Bahujan Samaj from an exploited class into a ruling one, aiming to realize a constitutional 'Bahujan Era' on the ground. She affirmed her unwavering resolve to uphold the trust he placed in her by naming her his successor.

Mayawati reiterated her argument that the nation's highest civilian honour should recognize Kanshi Ram's historic contribution to social change, reflecting the sentiments of the Bahujan Samaj. She drew a parallel with Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar's posthumous Bharat Ratna, asserting Kanshi Ram's equal significance in the movement for social transformation.

The BSP leader also addressed the upcoming Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Punjab, urging party office-bearers and workers to mobilize with full vigour. She emphasized that the Bahujan Samaj must achieve power not through benevolence, but through the strength of constitutional voting rights, making the safeguarding of these rights paramount. Taking Kanshi Ram's mission to its ultimate goal, she stated, would be the most fitting tribute.

Highlighting persistent national challenges such as poverty, inflation, unemployment, illiteracy, and backwardness, Mayawati criticised governments for merely fostering a 'feel-good' atmosphere for a select few. She called for concrete, sustainable measures to create employment, empower citizens, and strengthen the nation, stressing that education, healthcare, roads, and job creation are fundamental. BSP National Coordinator Akash Anand and other senior party office-bearers were present at the event.
