On Sunday, Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya led a cycling event in New Delhi, marking the 82nd edition of the Fit India Sundays on Cycle initiative. This nationwide campaign saw participation from over 15,000 locations, with healthcare workers, athletes, and fitness enthusiasts joining in to promote the message of fitness and preventive healthcare. The event was part of the Fit India Movement, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which aims to encourage people to adopt healthier lifestyles. Mandaviya emphasized the growing reach of the initiative, stating that it has evolved into a nationwide public movement inspiring citizens to make physical activity a part of their daily routine. The Delhi event saw enthusiastic participation from cyclists of all age groups, including Olympian Preety Dubey, who stressed the importance of fitness for everyone, not just athletes. The Fit India Sundays on Cycle initiative has become a flagship public fitness campaign, encouraging citizens to take up cycling as a simple and effective way to improve their health. With lakhs of Ayushman Arogya Mandir workers participating, the event highlighted the role of individual efforts in bringing about significant social change. As one of the participating cyclists noted, fitness is essential for every individual, and initiatives like Sundays on Cycle can be the beginning of a big transformation.
