On July 21, Most Rev. Dr. Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of Mangalore Catholic Diocese, launched the Konkani dictionary 'Sabdam Sampatthi' in Mangaluru. Edited by Fr. Prashanth Madtha and published by the Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy, this dictionary is a significant milestone for the Konkani language. Dr. Saldanha emphasized the importance of the Konkani language, which he said has a profound impact on the west coast. Joachim Stany Alvares, who presided over the event, highlighted the Academy's efforts to promote Konkani language, literature, and culture. The Academy has published several books, including 'Kavya Pallavi' and 'Katha Pallavi', which have been translated from Konkani to Kannada. P.V. Mohan, the chief guest, congratulated the editor and the Academy members on this achievement. The event, held in collaboration with St. Aloysius Deemed University, was attended by several dignitaries, including Fr. Bryan Pereira, Fr. Dr. Praveen Martis, and Taranath Gatti. Rajesh G. welcomed the gathering, while Fr. Prashanth Madtha introduced the dictionary and Roshan Crasta compered the event. Flora Castelino delivered the vote of thanks.
