MANGALURU: Over the past two days, nine people, including three women, were caught attempting to enter Mangaluru from Kerala with fake RT-PCR test reports. The women were allowed to return after they pleaded ignorance, but the rest were arrested.
According to police commissioner N Shashi Kumar, four cases have been filed so far. On Wednesday and Thursday, the police arrested five and two people, respectively. Six of them are from Kasaragod, and one is from Mangaluru. Two of them are said to be students. A person responsible for fabricating the documents was taken into custody for questioning, and the police are trying to find out if he has forged other documents. Cases have been filed under various provisions of the IPC and the Karnataka Epidemic Diseases Act. The city police will write to the Kasaragod district administration so that action can be taken against those involved in creating fake documents.
These cases contained forged dates and names, as well as QR codes that did not match. About 600 students who presented original RT-PCR negative certificates recently tested positive.
